CHAR 1/105/2 Copy of a letter from Edward Ward [Permanent Under-Secretary of State, War Office] (War Office, London) marked "confidential" to the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command in which he refers to "a want of care" shown by Officers entrusted with confidential documents relating to the mobilisation scheme and reminds them of the regulations relating to the custody of secret documents. He asks the General Officers Commanding-in-Chief to ensure that such cases are investigated and that they bring the matter to the notice of all Officers under their command.
