Correspondents include: Stanley Baldwin [Prime Minister] on relations with China and a budget prepared by WSC; [1st Lord] Birkenhead [earlier F E Smith, Secretary of State for India] on the threat to Afghanistan by the Soviet Union; [Sir Maurice] Hankey [Cabinet Secretary]; Sir Austen Chamberlain [Foreign Secretary] on foreign policy; Sir Robert Lynn on the resignation of [1st] Lord Cecil [of Chelwood as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster]; and George [1st] Lord Lloyd [of Dolobran].

Also includes copies of letters from WSC to the individuals mentioned above and to Sir Laming Worthington Evans [Secretary of State for War] and to [1st Lord] Beatty on operations against China, the Nakow agreement and striking at Nanking; internal Treasury correspondence with officials including James Grigg [Principal Private Secretary to WSC]; and notes by WSC on the extension of the franchise and sending troops to the Far East.

Also includes notes and papers on various subjects including: sanctions against China and their effect on Chiang Kai Shek; Sir William Joynson-Hicks [later Lord Brentford] on the loss of secret documents and Soviet intelligence and agents operating at Arcos Limited and the Russian Trade Delegation; a report on the state of the Red Army; Chinese labour in Ocean Island; Lord Cecil's resignation over disarmament and the Geneva protocol; and on British policy towards Iraq. Contains manuscript notes between WSC and members of the Cabinet including Stanley Baldwin.
