This file mainly comprises correspondence discussing WSC's resignation as Prime Minister and succession by Anthony Eden. It includes annotated drafts of WSC's letters to Eden of 11 Jun (ff 6-9) and 24 Aug 1954 (ff 24-33), and a hand-written copy of his letter to Macmillan of 20 Jun 1954 (f 48). There is also a carbon of WSC's letter to the Secretary of State for Air regarding Group-Captain Peter Townshend and associated correspondence (f 51a-c), and a typescript note relating to arrangements for the Royal dinner party at Downing Street on 04 Apr 1955 (f 103).
